Canceled Meetings, Madison Council Members Announce Summer Calendar

Mayor Bob Conley announced during the council's June 13 meeting that this year the council's summer meeting schedule will be reduced. The town council meeting, which was originally scheduled for June 27, has been canceled. Conley stated that the next meeting will be held on July 25.

School Safety Discussed At Madison Superintendent Coffee Meeting

A virtual Madison Superintendent Coffee meeting was held on the eve of the first day of summer. The meeting included updates on Covid-19 and a presentation on future school safety. The Superintendent of Madison Public Schools, Mark Schwarz, began the discussion by stating that key details pertaining to school security must be kept confidential, so the presentation would only cover broad security plans.

Downtown Summer Concert Series Continues This Summer In Madison

Madison Borough will soon be filled with the sound of music. The Museum of Early Trades and Crafts (METC) and the Madison Downtown Development Commission invite guests to the next concert in the Downtown Concert Series on July 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family-friendly concert series will be held outside on the Museum's lawn, and picnicking is permitted.

$2M Allocated For Madison Affordable Housing Development

Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) announced that 14 community projects she submitted to the House Appropriations Committee are moving forward for funding in this year's budget. One of the 14 projects, Madison Borough of Affordable Housing Development, will receive $2,086,269. "The projects include infrastructure investments to improve water quality and mitigate flood risks, healthcare facility upgrades, programs to address the affordability of housing and college tuition, public health support, and funding for law enforcement," Sherrill said.

Child Pornography Possession Charge Filed Against Morris Co. Man

A Morris County man faces charges of possessing and distributing child pornography after his arrest this week, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. Bryan Wesselius, 45, of Whippany, has been charged by complaint with one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, Sellinger said.
