Worried about Bullying? Join Us January 9!

The Thursday Morning Club and JBWS Explore the Connection Between Bullying, Dating Abuse and Domestic Violence

The Thursday Morning Club of Madison invites the community to "Bullying, Dating Abuse and Domestic Violence: What's the Connection?" presented by Regina Braham, Director of Community Relations and co-founder of the Dating Abuse Prevention Program for Jersey Battered Women's Service (JBWS). This program is scheduled for Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Madison Community House at 25 Cook Avenue in Madison.  Reservations are not needed and the program is free to all.

"Our young people are at risk for abuse on many levels from their peers - bullying, cyber bullying, dating abuse and more. Learning the warning signs and helping a child whom you care about can seem overwhelming," explains Regina Braham.

Left unchecked, a bully's behavior can later lead to dating abuse as well as domestic violence. Surveys show one in three students report experiencing some form of dating abuse and more than two-thirds of these never report that to a caring adult. Furthermore, studies show that most parents and guidance counselors report being unprepared to discuss it.

Join Regina Braham as she discusses the connection between bullying, dating abuse and domestic violence and what we can do about it. This program is for anyone who is concerned about our youth. As a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, sibling, teacher, tutor, neighbor or concerned citizen, you can learn simple steps to help young people learn the warning signs of abuse and how to avoid it.

Founded in 1976, the Jersey Battered Women's Service is a private non-profit, tax-exempt Morris County organization dedicated to the prevention of domestic violence through the empowerment of the victim, the rehabilitation of family members and the education of the public about domestic violence and its consequences.             The Thursday Morning Club is a member of the New Jersey State Federated Women’s Clubs and the General Federated Women’s Clubs.  For information about this Community Service organization or membership opportunities, call the Madison Community House at (973) 377-0244 or visit www.TMCMCH.org.
