David May Fills Vacant Mahwah Council Seat
May and Ward Donigian were nominated to the position. Jonathan Marcus was elected to the position, but declined.

MAHWAH, N.J. — David May filled the council seat left vacant by Jonathan Marcus, who declined last year to accept the seat. The council elected May to fill the seat at its reorganization meeting Thursday.
Councilman Robert Hermansen nominated May to fill the spot and George Irvin seconded the nomination in letters dated Dec. 30. Councilwoman Janet Ariemma nominated Ward Donigian to fill the seat.
"David will be a tremendous asset to our township," Irvin said in his letter.

Marcus was due to be sworn in to a four-year term, but announced Nov. 29 he would not take the seat due to "an unexpected situation" beyond his control that arose in his life, which forced him to "step back and take stock of what is most crucial to me: My well-being and that of my family," Marcus said in a statement.
