Summer Class Sign-Ups: Ambulance Corps Needs Volunteers

New ambulance recruitment posters have been popping up all over town. While the graphics may have caught your attention, Patch talked to Co. 1 Assistant Captain Greg Antonetti, to find out more about the message behind the new campaign.

“Our message is simple; we need members! No prior experience is needed and we will insure that applicants get all of the proper training, at no cost to the applicant. More information can be obtained by sending an email to JoinMahwahEMS@gmail.com or calling 201-252-8282.”

Antonetti said the Corps is looking for volunteers who can enroll in its summer course, or upcoming fall class.

“The EMS Academy is located here in Mahwah. During the fall and spring semesters, the EMT course is given two nights a week, plus five Sunday sessions, over a 16-week period. During the summer semester, it’s four nights a week, plus five Sunday sessions, over an 8-week period.”  

Antonetti said the group is looking for both adult and junior volunteers, so high schoolers are encouraged to get more information about this opportunity as well.

“The summer semester EMT class is very popular with our younger members. The summer semester class fills up very quickly, so if anyone is interested in taking it, please contact us sooner rather than later!”

Antonetti added, “this recruitment drive is a joint effort of both Company 1 Ambulance Squad and Company 4 Ambulance Corps.”
