HACKENSACK, NJ — A German national who made headlines for defrauding white-collar New Yorkers spent some time in Bergen County jail last year after being arrested for overstaying her visa, reports said.
Anna Sorokin, who faces prison time for pretending to be a German heiress, is the subject of the new Netflix show "Inventing Anna," the brainchild of Shonda Rhimes.
Sorokin, who used the name Anna Delvey, was imprisoned in Bergen County for some time on a visa violation last year before she was moved to Orange County Correctional Facility in New York, as NJ.com reported.

Actress Julia Garner, who won two primetime Emmy Awards for her work on "Ozark," portrays Sorokin in the show.
In 2019, Sorokin told the New York Times she was not sorry for anything she did, and said she always meant to pay back those who'd given her money.
