Archdiocese Of Newark Updates Catholic Cemeteries Directives
Maryrest Cemetery and Mausoleum will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mother's Day as the Archdiocese updated cemetery directives.
MAHWAH — The Archdiocese of Newark announced updated directives for Catholic Cemeteries in a May 4 news release.
All archdiocesan cemeteries, will be open for visitation on Mother's Day, May 1o, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to the release. Those visitation hours will also apply to Sunday's moving forward.
On Monday, May 11, up to 10 family members can attend a burial service, an increase from the current restriction of two family members. Until further notice, according to the release, all committal services will be limited to immediate family.

Starting on May 18, cemetery visitation will be allowed Monday through Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.
All people entering cemetery or mausoleum grounds must wear a facemask and practice social distancing, according to the news release.

Memorial Day masses at the cemeteries are postponed indefinitely, but announcements regarding a livestream or video of the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery are forthcoming, according to the release.
Archdiocese of Newark cemeteries include the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, as well as cemeteries in Jersey City, Newark, North Arlington, Colonia, Franklin Lakes, East Orange and East Hanover.
