Attempted Murder Charges Filed In Bergen New Year's Eve Stabbing

An Elmwood Park man faces attempted murder charges after he stabbed a woman during a domestic violence dispute, prosecutors said.

ELMWOOD PARK, NJ — Attempted murder charges have been filed against one man accused of stabbing a woman during a domestic violence dispute on New Year's Eve in Bergen County, prosecutors said.

Emiliano Domi is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. This comes after police responded to a "domestic violence incident" at Martha Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

Elmwood Park officers found a 43-year-old woman with a stab wound inside the home, prosecutors said. She was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where she is in stable condition.

An investigation conducted by detectives from the Elmwood Park Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit revealed that Domi stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife, prosecutors announced.

Domi was taken to Bergen County Jail, where he awaits a first appearance in court.
