Bad Weather Delays Bergen Rower's Bid For An Olympic Medal To Thursday

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Tracy Eisser will have to wait until Thursday to row for a medal at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Day five of rowing competition at the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas was cancelled Wednesday due to stormy weather, said World Rowing, the sport's official global governing body.

The women's quadruple sculls final was rescheduled for Thursday at 9:24 a.m. EDT.

Eisser, 26, and her teammates, Grace Latz, Megan Kalmoe, and Adrienne Martelli finished third in the first heat to advance to the repechage, which gives the best-placed teams who failed to win a heat a chance to row for a spot in the finals.

Eisser was a track and field star at Fair Lawn High School. She switched to competitive rowing while enrolled at her alma mater, Cornell University. She was named to the Olympic team June 20.

Team USA will be in Lane 1 when it races against Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Netherlands, and China in the final.
