Bergen County Man Faces 2 Child Porn Charges

MAYWOOD, NJ — A Maywood man is facing child pornography charges after an investigation revealed that he used the Internet to obtain, and distribute, more than 1,000 "digital depictions of nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children."

The Bergen County Prosecutor announced charges against Jonathan Abbassi on Tuesday. He was arrested in Paramus and charged with both possession and distribution of child pornography.

This comes after a months-long investigation conducted by the Cyber Crimes Unit at the prosecutor's office. It revealed that Abbassi, an emergency management consultant, used the Internet to view, download, possess and distribute the files.

He was taken to Bergen County Jail, where he awaits a first appearance in court.
