Bergen County Man Sexually Assaulted Child Under 13: Prosecutor

A New Year's Day investigation into the possible sexual assault of a child led to charges for one person, prosecutors said.

MOONACHIE, NJ — A Bergen County man faces charges after prosecutors said he sexually assaulted a child younger than 13.

An investigation into an alleged sexual assault of a child began on New Year's Day after the Little Ferry Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit investigated the matter for less than a day before arresting Franklin Gomez-Paredes in Paramus. He is charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Gomez-Paredes was taken to Bergen County Jail, where he awaits a first appearance in court.
