Bergen Prosecutor's Office Developing Heroin Recovery Coach Program
Initiative designed to have former users help current users.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is looking to launch a new program to help recovering heroin users.
The Recovery Coach program would put former heroin users in hospital rooms to council current users.
“We’re looking for a group throughout Bergen County,” said Maureen Parenta, the prosecutor’s office communications director.

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal is seeking assistance from hospitals to develop protocols.
Training would be handled by the Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources. The center provides substance abuse prevention, education, information, and referral services.

“We need to have a pathway to recovery for addicts and overdose victims,” Grewal said. “That was the purpose of today’s meeting and I want to thank all for participating.”
