Bergen Sept. 11 Remembrance Run To Help End Homelessness

Marathon begins at the Ridgewood Duck Pond and ends at World Trade Center Memorial.

Police officers, residents, and local officials will participate in the fourth annual September 11th Remembrance Run hosted by the Run for Hope Foundation.

Proceeds from this year's event will go toward helping the homeless and fighting drug addiction.

The 26-mile-long event will begin at 7:45 a.m. at the Ridgewood Wild Duck Pond and conclude at the World Trade Center Memorial. The course travels through Bergen County, over the George Washington Bridge, and along the Westside Highway.

"On this 15th anniversary on the attacks on our nation, it is important to remember there are people struggling with homelessness and drug addiction; especially veterans," said retired Fairview Police Chief Frank DelVecchio. "We need to work together to provide the resources and assistance to those in the greatest need and to combat poverty, homelessness and drug addiction."

The Run for Hope Foundation is a national foundation that raises money for charity through walks, runs, and other physical activities. The foundation used the funds last year to help families rebuild and funds to help end violence have been used to fund youth programs in Paterson.
