Homes Sales On The Rise In Bergen County

The positive news stories are gaining momentum.

Housing starts jumped 6.9% in June to a 3 ½-year high, underscoring the residential real estate's slow recovery as a bright spot in a sputtering economy, according to a recent article in USA Today.

And, the Goldman Sachs Group recently reported that U.S. homebuilders are an attractive investment as the housing market starts a "strong" recovery that may drive a surge in new-home sales.

On a local level,  The NJMLS 2nd Quarter Town Sales Comparison report shows good news for many towns in our market area. Towns in Bergen, Essex, Passaic, and Hudson are showing an increase in the number of solds, and in the median sold price. The town of Mahwah, for example, experienced an 81.8% increase in home sales during the 2nd quarter of 2012 vs the same time in 2011. The median sales price of a single family home increased 26.1 % during this same time period.
