I Was Gonna...

A reflection on the bombing at the Boston Marathon

I was gonna write about a true ritual of spring, the back nine at Augusta on Sunday.

I was gonna write about the Mets throwing more snowballs than baseballs this week.

I was gonna write about the nice turnaround by the Yankees staying alive early in the race.

I was gonna write about the successful NY area pro basketball season with both the Knicks and the Nets making the playoffs.

I was gonna write about the great, intense hockey game played between the Rangers and Islanders the other night.

I was gonna write some remedies for the floundering New Jersey Devils.

I  was gonna write about Rutgers.

I was gonna write about Rick Pitino winning an NCAA mens basketball championship for a second school.

BUT

Terrorism surfaced again here in my America.

What happened on Patriot's Day in Boston at the conclusion of the Boston Marathon is a painful and awful reminder that we are no longer safe -- ANYWHERE. It escapes me how any human being can resolve to inflict as much pain as is possible to innocent people.

Much like I felt on 9-11 I find myself to be sad, angry, and prayerful. I am sad that for generations to come America will never be the same our freedoms are being infringed upon by lunatics.

I am angry because I want this senseless killing stopped. Torture would be too good a death for the lowlife that caused this disaster. And yet there are Americans who think we were wrong for "torturing" those that caused 9-11.

I am not one of them. I am prayerful that God will somehow bring comfort to those in Boston and those anywhere that suffered losses on that brutal day. I am prayerful in thanks that those that I love were not affected and still here. I know my godchildren Jessica and Cole know that I love them and I pray that we all take time out to tell those who we love that we do love them, for we may never know forever might come today.
