Fall: It's The Most Wondrous Time Of The Year

As the leaves turn, so do the fortunes of our teams

It's the best time of year to be a sportsfan here in North Jersey.  High School and College Football are underway, the Jets and Giants are playing and of course...the New York Yankees are in baseball's post season again...17 out of the last 18 years.

The Giants take on the Cleveland Browns Sunday at 1pm at Met Life Stadium.  Is it me or does it seem like the Giants haven't played at home in like 3 years or so?  And, lo and behold it's a 1pm start!  Big Blue comes off a Sunday night loss in Philly where clearly a coaching mistake by Tom Coughlin cost them a win.  Instead of playing for a field goal to win the game, the Giants attempted to get a touchdown and in so doing were penalized basically out of field goal range.  Tynes's FG attempt from 54 was short..now if it was from 45?

One has to be concerned about the injuries that continue to haunt the Giants this season.  Hakeem Nicks is out again this week, his 3rd straight game.  Now he is joined on the sideline by Ramses Barton who suffered a concussion.  Eli's options at WR are diminishing but to thier credit Big Blue does not complain and competes with those avalilable.  It will be interesting to see how many of the injured return next week for the NFC Championship game rematch at San Francisco, perhaps the marquee game of the NFL regular season.  The Giants would be well advised not to take the 0-4 Browns lightly; this is perhaps their last "easy" game of the 18 week regular season.

Sunday night at 6 the New York Yankees take on somebody in Major League Baseball's American League Divisional Playoff round.  By virtue of winning the American League East with the best record in the AL the Yankees will have to wait until Friday night's Wild Card Playoff game is over to know who thier opponent will be.  In the meantime, bravo and well done, Bombers -- even you too, Joe Girardi.

Monday Night the Jets take on the Houston Texans in a game no one needs to watch.  Gang Green is turning ganggreen literally as a lack of any offensive talent makes them non competitive.
