Jeremy Lin, We Hardly Knew You

Plus, the Mets are losing - bad

NEWS ITEM - Jeremy Lin goes to Houston

Former NY Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin has signed with the Houston Rockets after the Knicks refused to match the offer sheet signed between the Rockets and Lin. After a short but exciting play on Broadway, Linsanity is gone.

The Knicks showed financial restraint here - they would have had to pay 25 million in salary and a 15 million penalty had they agreed to sign. While Jeremy played a huge role in revitalizing the Knicks and MSG, there were some areas of doubt that I'm sure affected their decision.

Lin got exposed defensively on a Sunday night in Miami against the Heat. He also suffered a knee injury that cut his season short. He has never played a full slate of 82 NBA games. In fact, his Knicks career amounted to 25 games. He was a free agent and entitled to what the free market would bear, and he is a very very rich man. A year ago he was sleeping on a couch, now he can buy a mansion.

NEWS ITEM - Mets lose 6 straight

Someone once said "it gets late early around here," and that is exactly the situation the NY Mets are in. Losing 6 straight games to division opponents since the all star game has put the season in jeopardy.

The Mets bullpen has been the biggest culprit, and GM Sandy Alderson must take a big hit here he - he brought most of these relievers. The Mets owe their fans more than what they have given, they must make a move in an attempt to sailvage the season NOW.

They need to find a reliable arm to put in the bullpen without trading a prized prospect. They should pursue re-acquiring right handed closer Francisco KROD Rodriguez asap....like today.
