Tips on Choosing a Pet Sitter

How to have a worry-free vacation

When choosing a pet sitter keep in mind that not only will they be taking care of your babies, they will have the keys to your house! So how do you find someone you can trust?

First and foremost the sitter must be bonded and insured.

There must be contracts spelling out the services provided and covering anything that may come up during the sit eg: in an emergency and I can't contact you who is your vet and what is the maximum you are willing to spend etc

There must be a back up sitter and that person must be bonded and insured also.

Do they use private contractors? Some large services are really brokers who send work to their contractors, there is nothing wrong with this but you need to know. There could be a case where 3 visits a day could be 3 different contractors.

They should be a member of a trade organization like Pet Sitters International

Are they a registered business, do the have an llc?

Do they have a website with rates published?

Do they have a facebook page with a customer following?

Hope this helps you out in choosing a sitter!
