Goodbye To The Mets 2012 Season, Adam Scott And Penn State
The latest developments in the sports world
NEWS ITEM-NCAA WHACKS PENN STATE
Penn State University was dealt some of the harshest penalties in NCAA history as a result in the cover-up of the Jerry Sandusky child abuse case. The combination of these penalties will have long-reaching effect, and it's likely that the Penn State Football program will need close to 10 years to recover from the lack of scholarships post season appearances etc.
Equally alarming was the extent of the fine levied against the school, the equivalent of a one year of football monies, which is 60 MILLION DOLLARS!

From my point of view, I can only say Bravo to the NCAA for its harshness of these fines. Not only will this action serve as a reminder to Penn State but perhaps more importantly the hope is that this will serve to be an alarm to other schools where football coaches are sometimes worshipped as Gods. Many other Division One football coaches have TV and/or radio shows, shoe contracts etc., and despite the earnings and power of Big Time college football, everyone needs to know that no one, NO ONE is above the law.
NEWS ITEM- ADAM SCOTT CHOKES AT THE BRITISH OPEN

Not since the collapse of Greg Norman at the 1996 Masters have we seen such a complete meltdown in the final round of a major golf tournament. On the back nine with a 5-stroke lead, incredibly Adam Scott bogeyed the last four holes of the round and lost the 'Open Championship,' as it is called across the pond.
South African Ernie Els won the Claret jug and his fourth major. I was on the course at Augusta the Saturday before Norman's Sunday collapse. As I watched Norman play in that Saturday round, I said to my buddy Mike, "There's no way Norman doesn't win this tomorrow."
Well, I flew home from Atlanta later that day and was horrified to see Norman choke right before my eyes. It's a good thing I wasn't a betting man that Sunday or this past Sunday. I would have lost a lot of money. By the way, Adam Scott and Greg Norman are both from Australia.
NEWS ITEM-2012 NEW YORK METS RIP
It turns out that maybe the extra pitches needed by Johan Santana did have an effect on his next few starts. He has not come close to a normal perfromance since. For some reason Jason Bay still plays but can't hit, the Mets' bullpen is ineffective and the team lost 10 out of 11 since returning from the All Star Break.
So ends the 2012 baseball season for the Mets, now it's time to bring up the kids from the farm teams and to begin to lay the groundwork for re-signing David Wright. Lets go Yankees!
