Mahwah Republican Club Awards Scholarship
The Mahwah Republican Club recognized Daniel Almash, a graduate of Mahwah High School, as this year’s recipient of a scholarship offered by the Club.He was awarded $500 and will attend Penn State University.(L to R):Frank Pallotta, president of the Mahwah Republican Club, Daniel Almash, and Robert Lockwood, a Club trustee who created the scholarship program.Scholarship applicants submitted 1,000-word essays addressing the theme:During the first year of President Donald Trump’s second term he deployed the National Guard to major cities to quell crime, targeted Venezuelan boats purportedly smuggling drugs, captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and, in a joint effort with Israel’s prime minister, killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.Using Article II of the U.S. Constitution as a resource, applicants provided their opinions of whether these actions are constitutionally legal and under the purview of presidential authority.Each year the Club hosts a fundraising dinner with the proceeds being used to support the program.
