Catholic Author Ronda Chervin, Ph.D. To Give Talk On Inner Transformation
Part of Spiritual Life Speaker Series at The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Mahwah

The Church of the Immaculate Conception, which serves the Mahwah area and Ramapo College, located at 900 Darlington Avenue, is pleased to announce the first speaker in its Spiritual Life Program Series. Ronda Chervin, Ph.D., well-known Catholic author, Professor of Philosophy and dedicated widow, will present a talk entitled, “The Way of Love: The Battle for Inner Transformation” on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the church. Dr. Chervin will talk about roadblocks to loving God and others (unforgiving anger, chronic anxiety, doubt and despair) and practical ways of overcoming these obstacles for Christian growth; how to make loving moral decisions; and how to respond to the challenge of becoming more loving day by day as a spiritual marathon runner.
Ronda Chervin received a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Fordham University and an MA in Religious Studies from Notre Dame Apostolic Institute. Dr. Chervin converted to the Catholic faith from a Jewish, though atheistic, background and has taught at numerous colleges, including Loyola Marymount University, the Seminary of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Franciscan University of Steubenville and Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, CT. She frequently presents on Catholic TV and Radio. She is an international speaker and author of over fifty books concerning the matters of Catholic thought, practice and spirituality, including Taming the Lion Within: 5 Steps From Anger to Peace, Last Call: Fourteen Men Who Dared Answer, her autobiography, En Route to Eternity and her latest book, The Way of Love: The Battle For Inner Transformation, which she will be reading from and giving spiritual insights about at the event. Following the talk, Dr. Chervin will be signing her books and there will be light refreshments. This talk is free and open to people of all faiths.
Future speakers and topics in the Spiritual Life Program Series include Tom Leopold, “A Comedy Writer Finds God,” on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. and Gary Zimak, “Walking by Faith,” on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. Tom Leopold, is an American comedy writer, performer, and novelist who was raised Jewish but converted to Catholicism as an adult. He has written episodes of “Seinfeld,” “Cheers” and “Will and Grace,” along with several books. Leopold has often been associated with Chevy Chase, Harry Shearer, and Paul Shaffer due to his work with them on various projects. Gary Zimak is a Catholic speaker and author who is recognized as one of the leading figures in the New Evangelization movement. Zimak has led thousands of people closer to Christ through his parish missions, talks and retreats.
