COVID Transmission Remains High In Bergen County
The CDC reports that the transmission rate remains high across the state, and the county is seeing an uptick in cases as well.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The community COVID-19 transmission remains high in the county, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Bergen County has seen an additional 1,238 cases within the last seven days, a rise of 18.92 percent, the CDC reports.
Hospital admissions are also up from the last week, with a rise of nearly four percent.

But Bergen County is far from the only one with high community transmission.
All 21 counties in New Jersey are now experiencing high transmission of the virus, according to the CDC's nationwide map of viral spread. The CDC defines high viral spread as more than 100 cases per 100,000 people in the past seven days.

The last time all of New Jersey was in a high viral spread zone was April 23, according to the CDC.
The CDC says even fully vaccinated people should wear masks indoors in public if they live in an area with "substantial" or "high" transmission of the virus.
State Health Department data shows that the Delta variant is still the strain seen in most new cases, making up 80 percent of cases in the last four weeks.
With the rise ongoing, municipalities have been making an extra push for vaccinations, especially as the start of school approaches.
