Eight-Year-Old from Mahwah Invents 'Self-Cleaning' Ebola Hazmat Suit
After watching the news, Mark Leschinsky created a triple layered suit that has inflatable pockets filled with a disinfecting solution.
An 8-year-old from Mahwah was honored by his school Monday and by “Student Ideas for a Better America“ for inventing an self-cleaning Ebola hazmat suit.
“I hope that my invention will save lives,” Mark Leschinsky said in his video (see here).
Mark created a triple layered suit that has inflatable pockets to be filled with a disinfecting solution that is pushed out, and will “kill the Ebola virus.”

The inside layer “doesn’t let anything through it,” he said. The middle layer has multiple pockets with the disinfecting solution.
Mark created the suit after watching the news and learning doctors and nurses were being infected with Ebola, NorthJersey.com reported. The solution comes out of small holes in the suit’s outer layer when one squeezes the base of the sleeve.

He said more than 500 healthcare workers were infected with the virus as of November and 300 of them died.
“My invention should significantly reduce the chance of healthcare workers being infected with Ebola,” he said.
Mark’s parents have contacted the Center for Disease Control about the suit, and were told it would need approval from the FDA, NorthJersey.com reported. So far the family hasn’t moved forward.
