Good Living 5K Run, 3K Walk & Festival to be held at Bergen Community College June 4, 8:30am-1:30pm

Paramus, NJ - The NJ Women’s Good Living Festival & 5K Run will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 8:30 am -1:30 pm on the campus of Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey. This family event will feature a women’s only 5K run and 3k walk, followed by a free festival featuring live entertainment, dozens of free interactive exhibits, activities for the kids, food and more.
The 5K run and 3k walk at 9:30 am and 10:00 am. Both the run and walk are completely within the college campus and feature flat, fast courses. The 5K run will feature mother-daughter awards and a Runners Dream Basket provided by New Balance North Jersey for the overall 5K Champion. A portion of the proceeds of the walk will be donated to the Bergen Community College Scholarship Fund.
The race and walk will be followed by the Festival which will continue through 1:30 pm. After the walk there will be entertainment emceed by comedienne and actress Katy Hayes, a recent finalist in the Gilda's Club Laugh-Off. Two-time Emmy winner Martha Byrne of Bergen County will present entertainment from ShowBiz Bootcamp, her talent academy, also located in Paramus. Byrne, nominated for a 2010 Emmy, is perhaps best known for her role as Lily Snyder on As the World Turns on CBS-TV will be available to sign autographs. Jackie Madden, also a Bergen County resident and star of VH1’s 2010 series “You’re Cut Off”, will be performing her current Billboard Top 40 Dance Club/Play Chart hit “Falling” from the Festival stage.
Festival activities will also include live music, a men’s fashion show, yoga demonstrations, free massages, manicures, guest speakers and even a healthy hula hoop demonstration. There will be face painting, pottery making, a soccer challenge, fitness training, children’s yoga for kids and much more. Popular area restaurants and a few newer local eateries will be providing free samples and also selling hot and cold food and beverages at special Festival pricing.
Several non-profits and community business organizations such as Shelter Our Sisters, City Green, Habitat for Humanity and several chambers of commerce will be on hand to explain what they do and how they help to make our lives better.
