Fiance Of Alleged North Jersey Dog-Killer Said The Dog Attacked Him: Report
John Varcadipone allegedly beat a puppy to death to terrorize his girlfriend, police said. He plead not guilty in Superior Court Monday.

WAYNE, N.J. - The fiance of the man accused of beating a 7-month-old puppy to death was defending himself against the dog, the woman said in Superior Court Thursday, The Record reported.
John Varcadipone, 23, allegedly beat the dog to death with a kitchen chair to terrorize his girlfriend, police said. He agreed to a psychological evaluation, the report said.

Varcadipone's fiance, who was in court Thursday, said she was there to support him because the "dog did attack him," the report said. She said in the report that the dog bit him three times before.
Varcasipone allegedly hit his girlfriend's head against the wall and bit her after he beat the dog to death, police said.

Varcadipone was reportedly involved in an argument with his brother and was "acting crazy due to drugs" and fought with everyone the night before the dog was allegedly killed, Passaic County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Gina Pfund said in the report. He was allegedly mad because he could not find drugs.
The next morning he woke up mad because his girlfriend did not wake him up for work on time, the report said.
When police showed up at the trailer Varcadipone lives in Friday morning they found blood and broken furniture strewn inside the home, authorities said.
Varcadipone plead not guilty to the charges at his arraignment Monday.
