Former Mahwah Cop Honored For Saving Teen's Life
Officer Matt Lombardo used a department-issued tourniquet to save Jason Criscuolo's life.

MAHWAH, N.J. — If it wasn't for Matthew Lombardo, Jason Crisouolo would not be alive.
Lombardo received the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award from American Legion Post 147 in Elmwood Park for saving Crisouolo's life. Crisouolo was walking across Route 17 when he was struck by a pickup truck. Lombardo, a Mahwah police officer at the time, arrived at the scene and tied a department-issued tourniquet around Crisouolo's left leg.
Crisoulo survived the accident, but his left leg was amputated below the knee.
