THE CLOCK HAS STRUCK MIDNIGHT ON THE 2013 CINDERELLA YANKEES
After the joyful celebration of Old Timer's Day last Sunday the reality is ---it's starting to get real ugly in the Bronx and the Yankees might fall out of the pennat race before the end of July.
As we have said before the Yankees have been an overachieving bunch for most of the early season but now leaks are springing up everywhere as part time players have become exposed under the prime time full time bright lights. There are wayyyyyyy too many near automatic outs in the Bronx Bombers lineup. Gardner, Ichiro and Cano are the only ones that can reasonably be expected to get a hit. That leaves 6 easy outs and most of those outs do not belong as full time regulars in the major leagues. The end result is major strain on an excellent pitching staff, starters and bullpen and simply put the Yankees just cannot score.
It doesnt help when AROD continues to be a 30 million dollar circus ths time making his injury status public on social networks without the consent of management who is paying him the 30 million to not play so far this season. GM Brian Cashman's outburst this week to Shut Up to Arod revealed just how frustrated all of Yankee heriarchy is by AROD's nonsense. Admittedly Cashman could have used better words. I am sure that the GM is desperately trying to replenish the Bronx Bombers offense which is currently Missing In Action. This week Mark Teixeira was lost for the season with the wrist injury. By being premature and ill advised with his injury updates AROD compromises Cashman's position in trade discussions and that is at least part of Brian Cashman's frustration
AARON HERNANDEZ CHARGED WITH MURDER
Since last year's Super Bowl there have been over 25 arrests of NFL players which has to alarm commissioner Roger Goodell. This week New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was charged with murder and implicated in at least one other activity that resulted in death. Athletes lead a charmed life of entitlement in some cases as early as 8th grade but that in no way makes any kind of excuse for this barbaric behavior. Its been reported now that Hernandez's bizzare behavior affected where he was drafted in he NFL draft. It is both sad and frustrating that a 23 year old athlete has apparently ruined his life in such manner
MATT HARVEY SHOULD START THE ALL STAR GAME AT CITI FIELD
NY Mets' sensation should be the starting pitcher in this year's major league all star game at Citifield in 2 weeks. He is 7-1 and the only reason to watch the Mets at all this season. This move seems to be a slam dunk for Major League Baseball and without Tony La Russa to screw it up it should be neat to see Harvey go after the American League's Best
