MAHWAH, NJ – Longtime Mahwah resident and current Township Council member Janet Ariemma has announced her candidacy for re-election to the Mahwah Township Council, emphasizing a platform built on fiscal responsibility, smart growth, and independent leadership.

Ariemma, who has served on the Township Council for 12 years, says her commitment remains focused on protecting Mahwah’s neighborhoods, preserving the community’s quality of life, and ensuring that residents have a strong, independent voice in local government.

"Mahwah is a unique community, and every decision we make should reflect the needs and interests of our residents," said Ariemma. "My priorities are straightforward: keep taxes under control, protect our town from overdevelopment, and remain accountable only to the people of Mahwah."

Lower Taxes Ariemma supports reducing government waste, improving operational efficiency, and encouraging responsible business growth while maintaining the essential services residents rely upon.

Stop Overdevelopment She opposes large-scale projects that could negatively impact the community, including massive data centers, oversized fulfillment facilities, and unchecked high-density housing developments. Ariemma advocates for responsible growth that respects Mahwah’s neighborhoods, infrastructure, roads, and environment.

An Independent Voice for Residents Running without affiliation to a political party or political machine, Ariemma pledges to remain accountable solely to Mahwah residents and their concerns.

A lifelong Mahwah resident, Ariemma has built a career in education and public service. She serves as a Mathematics Professor at Ramapo College and Rockland Community College and is a strong supporter of first responders, seniors, and veterans. Her record of community involvement and public service spans decades of dedication to the township she calls home.

Residents are encouraged to vote on November 3 and look for Janet Ariemma in Column 5 on the ballot.
