Poet patriot Joyce Kilmer's full name was "Alfred Joyce Kilmer," after two ministers in the family's Episcopal church -- the Rev. Alfred Taylor and the Rev. Elisha Brooks Joyce. But early in life he preferred to be called Joyce and dropped "Alfred."
