Mahwah Adults Getting In On Summer Sports Action

After three season of taking the kids to practices, scrimmages, and games, standing on the sidelines and cheering in the stands, it’s time for mom and dad to get in on the action, too.

Sign-ups begin Thursday for two of the township’s adult sports leagues, softball, and – new this year – tennis.

The Recreation Department released the following information this week:

Adult Softball

Lace up your cleats and come on out to the ballpark for Mahwah's Adult Softball.  Registration for first time players will be held at the Recreation Building, 70 East Ramapo Avenue, on Thursday, May 9 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Players must be at least 21, provide proof of residency and remit a $25 fee. 

Season begins on Monday, June 17. Men will play on Mondays and Wednesdays and women on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Deadline for registration is May 10. The registration form can be found on the township website, www.mahwahtwp.org, under Forms Center.

Adult Tennis

Reminder:  Adult Tennis Clinic In-Person Registration: Thursday, May 9
Mahwah Recreation is sponsoring a tennis clinic, open to Mahwah residents only.  The clinic will run on Mondays from June 24 through July 29, at the Mahwah High School tennis courts. The fee of $65 is payable to Mahwah Rec. Tennis and must be received by May 10. All participants must be 21 years of age on or before June 17, 2013.  The Clinics will be at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. 

For the duration of the clinic, the Mahwah High School Courts will be available on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to those registered in the clinic. In-person registration at the Recreation Building, 70 East Ramapo Avenue, will be held on Thursday, May 9 from 6-7:30 p.m. Proof of residency is required.

The Mahwah Rec Department also sponsors an adult soccer league over the summer, which proved very popular last year. Information on the league from the recreation department is below:

Mahwah Coed Adult Soccer League: Mahwah Recreation is sponsoring a 7v7 Coed soccer league, open to Mahwah residents only.  Games will begin on June 4 and continue through mid August. All participants must be 18 years of age before June 4. Games will be played at Mahwah High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.  Click here for Registration Form.

Last year, about 260 Mahwah adults played on the township's adult leagues.
