Mahwah Baseball Headed To State Finals

's varsity baseball team beat Madison in the Group 2 semifinals on Tuesday, according to NJ.com.

The Thunderbirds beat the Dodgers 12-2, the website said.

Mahwah had 14 hits and an error, while Madison recorded five hits and three errors, according to the box score.

According to a NorthJersey.com baseball blog, the T-Birds are in a good position going into Saturday's Group 2 State Final game in Toms River. In 2008, the last time Mahwah made the finals, the team fell short of earning the state title.

"I don’t know if a team can enter a state final any hotter offensively than Mahwah will enter Saturday’s showdown with Buena," the NorthJersey.com blog reported. "They’re averaging 10 runs in their last four games (which is very hard to do during the state tournament) and it’s going to take one heck of a performance to slow down this Thunderbird lineup."
