Mahwah Council Pres. Endorses Dave May, George Ervin

Dave May and George Ervin have stood up for you, the people, to protect the township.

Dear editor:

On Tuesday, I ask for your support in voting for Dave May and George Ervin for Mahwah Town Council. A lot has happened in this town over the last 10 months. During that time Dave May and George Ervin have stood up for you, the people, to protect the township. They have fought to keep Mahwah looking like Mahwah. They have been fighting the developers from building little to no new high-density housing as possible.

Mr. May and Mr. Ervin have helped develop and pass ordinances. These ordinances have protected our water and our well-heads, ensuring clean drinking water for our residents. They came out against illegal lead dumping by our county at the county shooting range. They have fought against the installation of items on our utility poles. They helped pass a stronger Pilgrim Pipeline ordinance, which lets everyone know Mahwah is against the installation of the Pilgrim pipeline. They helped pass the no-solicitation ordinance, that so many people in our town asked us to pass, yet our mayor and their opponents disagreed with our passing it.

They helped protect our parks and the town's assets by developing and passing an ordinance updating what is prohibited in our parks. They helped pass a budget that did not cut services. In fact, we funded more than $1 million to fix our roads, funded a new fire truck, much-needed new DPW equipment, new police cars and a new radio system for our police, fire and DPW departments to help keep all our residents safe.

They also helped find the best place for a new cell tower, which when built will help fix a dead zone area that has affected many of our residents in town for years. We were able to do this without affecting a residential area.

In closing, they are both members of the Recreation Committee and have helped to create better sports programs and events for our kids. Mr. May has been streaming our meetings as a public service for our residents who are unable to attend but want to know what is going on, for almost three years now. Mr. Ervin has served on our Planning Board and is currently on our Board of Adjustments.

Mr. May and Mr. Ervin have earned my respect and I hope they have earned your vote for re-election. Please vote for Dave May and George Ervin on Tuesday for Mahwah Township Council.

I will be having an open door meet and greet from on Saturday Nov. 4th from noon to 8 p.m. for anyone who would like to stop by my home to discuss the issues going on in our town. If you can not make it to my home then email me your questions rghermy@verizon.net or call me.

Robert G. Hermansen,
Mahwah Township Council President
