Mahwah Girl Unconscious Since May Making Progress
Sara Goffredo, 15, went into cardiac arrest May 17. An online campaign has raised more than $60,000 to help her recover.

MAHWAH, N.J. — More than $60,000 has been donated to help a 15-year-old borough girl recover since she lost consciousness after going into cardiac arrest more than two months ago.
Sara Goffredo was shopping with her mom May 17 when she had trouble breathing. She went into cardiac arrest, suffered loss of oxygen to the brain, and has been conscious ever since.
Eddie Miller, a friend of the family, started a GoFundMe page to raise money to help the family. More than $60,100 has been donated to date, up from $37,000 nearly a month ago.

Goffredo has not woken up yet, but she is not connected to any machines, Miller posted on the page earlier this month.
Her heart no longer races and "remains balanced," her oxygen level is stable, and the doctors are slowly reducing her medication.

Miller stated he talks to the aspiring Broadway actress daily and tells Goffredo of the "giant villages" of people who are pulling for her."
Several people have donated $500 or more to the campaign. The Mahwah PBA Local 143 donated $500 Wednesday.
"Our members wish you and your family hope and recovery," the union stated on the page.
