Mahwah High School Senior Raises $2K for Disabled Vets
Kirsten Stuart ran a 'Homes for Our Troops' fundraiser at her gym

A Mahwah High School senior recently turned her hobby – working out – into a way to help American troops fighting overseas.
Kirsten Stuart, who works out at Cross Fit 201 in Franklin Lakes, was inspired by a fundraiser a friend hosted at the gym last year to create one of her own.
“I’ve been Crossfitting for a few years, and they’ll have workouts dedicated to veterans and soldiers, and last year my friend held an event for ‘Homes for Our Troops,’ and raised a lot of money. I wanted to do that too,” Stuart said.

The charity organization helps build adapted homes for injured veterans.
On Veteran’s Day earlier this month, Stuart hosted a fundraiser for gym members, complete with a DJ, food and a silent auction.

About 100 guests attended the event, and Stuart was able to raise over $2,000 for the charity.
“I thought it was really beneficial, and I hope it helps,” Stuart said.
