Mahwah Man Abused Preteen Child, Bergen County Prosecutor Says

A Mahwah man, 37, was arrested after allegedy abusing a child under 13, prosecutors said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Mahwah man has been charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.

Martino Desir, 37, was arrested in Mahwah this week and taken to the Bergen County Jail to await his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said that on Monday, March 4, 2024, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the "alleged abuse of a juvenile."

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mahwah Police Department determined that Desir abused a child under the age of 13 in Mahwah, prosecutors said, leading to his arrest.
