Mahwah Runner Places Top 10 At NJ Half-Marathon
25 runners from the township were among 13,000 who participated in 2012 race
The many changes to the 2012 New Jersey Marathon including a new starting location and time, did not stop a huge number of runners and spectators from flocking to Oceanport and Long Branch on Sunday morning.
Jason Page, of Durham, N.C., won the full marathon with a lightning fast time of 2:33:13. He finished first in a group of 2,304 runners.
The half marathon, which traveled through Oceanport, Monmouth Beach and Long Branch, had 6,234 participants. Sean Stevens, of New York City, won the half marathon by running the 13.1-mile race in 1:14:58.

Mahwah residents were well represented in both races – 21 Mahwahians ran the half-marathon and four ran the full marathon. Resident Joe Singleton, 26, of Mahwah placed seventh in the half marathon with a time of 1:21:06.
Singleton, who started running four years ago, said finishing in the top 10 was "a dream come true. This is the best I've ever finished, time-wise and place-wise." The runner has taken on marathons in NY and Boston before Sunday's NJ race.

"But, it doesn't stop here," he said. "I was back into training the next day, getting ready for my next race, which will be the Ridgewood 10K on Memorial Day." Singleton said he also plans to run the NY Marathon this November and the NJ Half Marathon again next year.
Other Mahwah residents who competed in the half marathon include: Beth Appio, Rachel Barese, Carolyn Brush, Jean Dipaolo, Kerry Eid, Kristin Eid, Laura Fontana, Deborah Jancek, George Kayal, Robin Klein, Kimberly Krueger, Timothy Letavish, Christina Mongelli, Diana Olivari, Nelson Ramirez, Chris Roberts, Tom Singleton, Kelly Suh, Sarah Tobia and Michael Wunder.
Of the Mahwah residents who ran the full marathon, Ken Ford, who came in 653rd with an overall time of 3:52:57, and Bertrand Dor who came in 862nd, with a time of 3:59:27, were the highest-placing finishers. Residents Martine Dor and Jeffrey Sze, also ran the full marathon.
A group of six teachers from - Sarah Tobia, George Kayal, Rich Gordon, Elizabeth Drosdick, Rachel Massaro, and Andy Beutel - also ran the half marathon this year.
