Mahwah's Darlington County Park Lake Reopens For Swimming

Swimming at the Mahwah lake is set to begin on Friday with new procedures in place to combat coronavirus concerns.

MAHWAH, NJ — The lower swimming lake at Darlington County Park is officially opening, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announced Thursday.

The lake was delayed in opening for the summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, and will have additional health protocols in place to combat the virus.

Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting Friday, the lake will reduce parking capacity to enforce social distancing during swimming hours, Tedesco said.

Face masks are required for entry into the lake, and must be worn whenever social distancing is impractical, or not possible to maintain.

The Bergen County Parks Department as a whole will be going cashless this summer, meaning credit cards and Apple Pay are accepted, but no dollar dills.

Weekend pricing for Darlington County Park is as follows:

  • $10 for Bergen County residents
  • $6 for children and senior citizens
  • $15 for out-of-county adults

And for weekdays:

  • $8 for Bergen County residents
  • $6 for children
  • $3 for senior citizens
  • $10 for out-of-county adults
