Man Charged With Heroin Possession Tried To Steal From Gas Station, Allegedly Punched Manager: Police

Authorities found 124 'folds' of heroin in the McDonald's bathroom the man feld into, police said.

Mahwah Police arrested a man after he robbed $100 from a gas station and found heroin in the nearby restroom he was in, authorities said.

Police went to the Mahwah Gulf gas station on Route 17 on a report of a robbery in progress, Chief James Batelli said.

The caller said that a man wearing a blue shirt and mesh shorts stole $100 from the store and ran towards the nearby McDonald’s, Batelli said.

The manager told police that a man, David Mizrachi, was dropped off at the store by a car, went inside, put merchandise in his pockets, and tried to leave the store without paying for it, police said.

Mizrachi, 21, tried to pay for a bottle of water with a $100 bill, and when the manager asked him about the other items in his pockets, the two argued; Mizrachi waved the items and several ”wax folds” above his head, and screamed at the manager, Batelli said.

Mizarchi pushed the manager, grabbed the $100, and left the store; the manager followed him into the parking lot and Mizarchi allegedly punched the manager before he ran toward McDonald’s, Batelli said.

Three Mahwah Police officers went to the McDonald’s and saw Mizarchi leave a men’s bathroom, police said.

Mizarchi was arrested and police found a hypodermic needle on him and 124 “wax folds” of heroin in the bathroom, police said.

Mizarchi was charged with robbery, possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His last known place of residence is Monsey, New York.

Bail was set at $120,000 with no 10 percent option. Mizarchi was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
