'Most Events Ever' In Mahwah This Month For Those With Special Needs

Get a sweet treat Wednesday, see emergency vehicles for Fire Prevention Month, bond with animals, and more in Mahwah.

MAHWAH, NJ — The group "Access for All" in Mahwah plans a wide array of activities for kids and adults with physical and emotional disabilities, particularly important as some say the resources dwindle as kids age out of the system. This month will have an especially robust group of events.

"We have five events planned for October! This is the most events we've ever planned in one month!," the group noted recently.

The group has already had an event recently with Pony Power, a Mahwah-based group that "uses horses and an accessible farm to enhance the physical, social and emotional well-being of children and adults who need extra support." (Find out more about them here.)

This coming Wednesday will be "Fire and Ice Safety" day for Fire Prevention Month. The Mahwah Fire Department will teach lifesaving lessons and give a tour of firetrucks. The event takes place at the Mahwah Senior Center, and an ICE treat from the Ice Factory Café Truck will be provided.

"This is a VERY important educational event that everyone should attend," they noted. "Please wear your BLUE Access for All shirts." RSVP here: https://forms.gle/4zS25wbCBE1Ef7bWA
