Need To Cool Off? Municipal Pool Know-How

Pool open weekends, will open for a full schedule after school lets out next week

As the warm weather is here to stay for the summer, Mahwah residents need a place to cool off – the . The township’s personal getaway, whiched kicked off its season last weekend, is complete with a 25-meter pool and diving well, a wading pool, a 40-foot intermediate pool, volleyball and playground areas, picnic tables, grills, a clubhouse with lockers and showers, and a patio with food services.

The Municipal Pool, open from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. or dusk, also offers instructional programs for all levels of swimming and diving, Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid.  

To enjoy these amenities, Mahwah residents have several options. Season-long membership is offered at general rates, with individuals paying $115, seniors $40, large families $285, and small families $115 per person.  Those interested in day-by-day use of the pool can pay $9 per person on weekdays, $10 per child on weekends, $12 per person on weekends, or $5 per senior, provided proof of residence is shown at the gate.

Group rates for events and parties are set at $7 per person, with scheduling required at least two weeks in advance. 

Non-residents can purchase pool membership at $200 per person, $400 per large family, or $200 per person in a small family, with children under two free.

On hot and sunny Fridays in June, non-members will be able to enter after-school swimming from 4 – 8 p.m. for a gate fee of $4. 

Though the pools have been open since Memorial Day weekend, the school year’s close marks the beginning of full weekday operations.  Labor Day is the last swim day.
