NJ Man Charged After Sexual Assault Of Fellow Jail Inmate
An incarcerated Paterson man faces multiple charges after prosecutors say he sexually assaulted another inmate at the Bergen County Jail.

HACKENSACK, NJ — An inmate at the Bergen County Jail faces charges after law enforcement officials say he sexually assaulted a fellow inmate on Friday.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office announced multiple charges against Nasir Newsome, 26, of Paterson. They include aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.
An investigation began on Friday when the Bergen County Sheriff's Office contacted the Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault of an inmate at the jail. According to prosecutors, their investigation confirmed that an assault did occur.

According to Bergen County Jail records, Newsome was previously charged with resisting arrest and eluding after being instructed to stop in a motor vehicle on Jan. 25, 2021.
No bond has been set for the latest charge, and Newsome will have a first appearance in court at a later date.
