Police Dispatcher Dies At 47, Fundraiser Started
A police dispatcher died suddenly at 47 on Tuesday. A fundraiser has started for his family.
RAMAPO, NY — A Ramapo Police dispatcher has died at 47, his department said in a social media post Wednesday night.
Dominick J. D'Alisera worked the midnight shift, police said. He had joined the department in 2022.
He leaves behind a wife and toddler son, said a friend who linked to a GoFundMe for the family.

"He did not come to us as an inexperienced dispatcher," wrote the police. "Dominick brought with him an extensive background in public safety, spanning more than 30 years of service as a first responder in Rockland County, including over 20 years of experience as a police dispatcher with both the Haverstraw Police Department and the Spring Valley Police Department."
He was also a life member of the West Haverstraw Fire Department and a member of that town's Ambulance Corps too, police said.

"Dominick’s decades of service and dedication to helping others will not be forgotten," police wrote.
A former colleague wrote that he, D'Alisera, and two others had won Dispatcher of the Year in Rockland County for helping stop a custodial kidnapping.
The fundraiser had amassed more than $6,000 in donations by Monday night.
Correction: An earlier version of this story misidentified the area in which he works as the Ramapo section of New Jersey rather than Ramapo, NY.
