Recall Petition Announcement Could Come Today
Group has 'significant' number of petitions signed. About 4,200 are needed to place recall question on the November ballot.
An announcement regarding exactly how many signatures a group of residents collected to recall Mahwah Mayor William Laforet could come as early as today.
The group of a few dozen volunteers has been working tirelessly for months to try and collect the 4,200 signatures needed to approve the question of whether or not Laforet should continue as Mayor mayor.
The group issued a self-imposed deadline of Aug. 1 to collect the signatures because the county clerk has 10 days to count and certify them. Laforet has 10 days to challenge the results.
