Rescue Company 1 Saves Kayaker in Ramapo River
Wife, husband and instructor were kayaking in a wide portion of the river

Rescue Squad Company 1 brought a woman to shore Sunday afternoon after her kayak flipped over in the Ramapo River, police said.
The woman, her husband, and an instructor—all in their mid-30s, from Monsey, N.Y.—were riding three separate kayaks in a wide portion of the river behind Stag Hill Road when the couple's boats flipped, Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli said.
While the husband held on to his kayak and was helped by the instructor, his wife needed to tread water until the rescue squad came for her, Batelli said. Everyone arrived on shore without injury, he said.
