Seniors In Mahwah Can Really Use Your Food Donations

Hunger can be scary, but you can help. Bring cans or other non-perishable food to this location as part of a Mahwah drive through Halloween.

MAHWAH, NJ — The Mahwah Senior Center is partnering with Mahwah Center for Food Action to collect goods for their annual Hunger is Scary program, through Halloween, this Tuesday.

If you have any non-perishables at home, or if you pick up an extra can at the store, they ask you to please bring it over to Mahwah Senior Activity Center at 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah.

The philosophy of the Mahwah Senior Activity Center is based on the premise of "keeping our seniors in Mahwah healthy, active, and aging wisely," they say. "We believe that each individual has the right to achieve their maximum potential and be given the opportunity for community involvement through wellness, social, creative, cultural and other various recreational programs offered at the center."

The Center provides services for individuals age 62 and over and their caregivers.

"The Center’s programs allow more clients to age in place and prevent early entry into assisted living or nursing home placement," they note. "Additionally, the emphasis on physical activity and education helps minimize the cost of medical care or hospitalization."
