Snow Day Causes Revision To Hoboken School Calendar 2023-2024
When are the last day of school, middle school graduation, and Hoboken High School graduation, and how were they impacted by the snow day?

HOBOKEN, NJ — Spring Break '24 begins this Friday in the Hoboken public schools, and will run through Sunday, April 7. The break will not be impacted by the snow day in February — but the end of the year will be.
Schools Superintendent Christine Johnson called a snow day for Feb. 13. She said this month that the day has caused a slight revision to the calendar for the end of the year.
The state requires 180 days of school in New Jersey each year. Hoboken's contract with the teachers' union requires 181 days, Johnson noted.

Rather than make up the school day by adding a day, the board and union agreed to convert two half days at the end of the year to regular dismissal, 3 p.m. days, and have a total of 180 days this year instead of 181.
As a result, Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14 are now full days.

The last day of school will still be a half day on Tuesday, June 18, which is also the day of high school and middle school graduation.
This revised calendar and new calendar for the 2024-2025 school year are both on the district website:
