Swastika Painted On Former Mahwah Country Club Building
The 'symbol of hate' was painted in red paint at the former Apple Ridge Country Club, police said.

MAHWAH, N.J. — A swastika was painted at the former Apple Ridge Country Club on East Crescent Avenue.
Police are investigating the red 'symbol of hate' that was painted on a piece of plywood covering up a window at the abandoned and boarded up building, said Chief James Batelli.
The swastika was not visible from the roadway and has been painted over, Batelli said.

The building has been vandalized several times since the country club closed in December 2015, including graffiti and different phrases that were sprayed on the building late last year, Batelli said. The building was cleaned out and its contents auctioned off in January 2016.
Mahwah Detective Sgt. Kevin Herbert is investigating who left the swastika.
