Murphy is one of six Democrats running in this year's primary election. He is leading his opponents by double digits, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released May 3.

In February, Phil Murphy got some heat from Republicans, including Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, for remarks he made comparing President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.
