Would-Be Bergen Bank Robber Caught In Alabama: Police
Mark D. O'Neill, 44, was charged with attempted robbery.

The man who intended to rob a Chase Bank in Franklin Lakes April 20, but left before doing so, has been arrested, police said.
Mark D. O'Neill, 44, of Newton, was found in Alabama and charged with attempted robbery, said Detective Lt. John Bakelaar.
Police previously said that a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, mask, and a medical glove on one hand ran into the bank on the afternoon of April 20, looked around, and after seeing the tellers were behind security glass, left, Bakelaar said.

Franklin Lakes and Wyckoff police officers and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident.
O'Neill was tracked to Alabama as a result of the investigation and subsequently arrested by the Alabama State Police, police said. He was remanded to the Lowndes County Jail in Hayneville, Alabama and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
