2 People Hit On Rt. 33 In Manalapan Tuesday Night

After stopping on Rt. 33 to inspect damage from an initial car crash, two people were seriously injured when a third car hit them.

MANALAPAN, NJ — After stopping on Rt. 33 to inspect damage from an initial car crash, two people were seriously injured when a third car hit them Tuesday night in Manalapan Township.

The accident happened at approximately 9:00 p.m. Tuesday on Rt. 33 in the area of Sawgrass Drive. Two cars initially got into an accident in the left lane, and both drivers got out to inspect the damage.

That's when a third vehicle collided with the rear of one of the vehicles, said Capt. Thomas Barstow of Manalapan PD.

The two drivers of the initial crash were injured.

The drivers of all three vehicles, as well as two passengers, were taken to Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick, and Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Englishtown Manalapan First Aid Squad, the Millstone Township First Aid Squad, Freehold First Aid Squad, and the Manalapan Fire Company also responded to the scene.
