August Performances at the Monmouth County Library

August sizzles with sensational performances at the Monmouth County Library! From a classic French farce to cool jazz, rock ‘n’ roll to radio theater, you can catch a free show at the Library.

The following is the August lineup of events: 

Live Theatre: The Marriage of Figaro by Pierre Beaumarchais

This was Pierre Beaumarchais' second play and was a sequel to his first, The Barber of Seville.  Both plays became well-known operas, with The Marriage of Figaro becoming one of Mozart's best known operas. Performed by the Next Stage Ensemble, a division of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's Summer Professional Training Program, created to foster the work of early career actors and to train them in ensemble-based performance techniques.

Dave McCarthy Concert

Dave McCarthy has been entertaining listeners at the Jersey Shore for decades.  He will perform an eclectic mix of songs made famous by groups such as The Allman Brothers, Jimmy Buffet, The Rolling Stones, The Doors and Bee Gees.  He also plays music by legendary songwriters including John Hiatt, James Taylor, Loudon Wainwright III and Van Morrison. Celebrate summer as we close the covers on the Adult Summer Reading Club.  Enjoy an evening filled with some great music. --------------------------------

NINE Theatricals Touring Theatre Company returns with a new two act performance. Join us on a summer night for dessert and a wonderful theatrical evening. The play centers on several adults from different walks of life who escape to the library on a daily basis to read. Various scenes, short plays, and monologues are presented through the eyes of the readers. Playwrights include Neil Simon, Ivan Menchell, and Ernest Thompson, among others.
